Pay: US$ 50 per day per person, calculated on a non-profit basis. This will cover:
- Internal transport (not including flights)
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Payment (day rate) for a local co-worker
- A fee for materials and tools to be used on the job
The payments will also cover the day rate for a local guide, project supervisor, cook and service staff. (see the breakdown given under pricing on www.voluntourists-without-borders.com)
Photo-images of the accommodation (barrack room style) are available on www.pang-soong-lodge.com
The work
The organisation is currently repairing and upgrading the trail. This entails clearing paths, cutting steps into the mountain side, building bridges and other crossing features, putting ladders in place where needed, and installing an iron way (rock face access system).
There are also tasks related to forest replanting and forest augmentation.
The volunteers
At this early stage in the development, it is not financially viable to accept individual volunteers so you will need a minimum of 5 people in a group to cover costs.
If you wish to take part in this project you should organise a group of volunteers and apply as a group to work for a given period of time, e.g. 1, 2, 4 or more weeks so that a programme may be put together for you.
