Volunteers wanted: Poultry farm - Uganda

Volunteers with some knowledge of poultry farming required to set help set up and advise on the running of a poultry farm in Jinja that will help provide an income for local youths, thereby offering them an opportunity to afford to attend school.

 

Work

Clear the environment were the project is to be located
Share ideas of how we the farm can be maintained in terms of breeeding the chicken.

The area

Jinja is a town of over 100,000 people on northern shores of Lake Victoria near the source of the White Nile.

 

Weather
The area has a tropical, savannah climate with two dry seasons, December to February and June to August.

 

Language

Most people speak English.

 

Volunteers

Work and accommodation for up to 20 volunteers can be provided.

 

Duration

You will be expected to work for at least 2 weeks.

 

Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided in Jinja.

 

Cost

Food and accommodation will cost about $400.

 

Getting there

Make your own way to Entebbe airport from where transport will be provided to take you to Jinja.
