CHSG Support Centre - Kenya

CHSG has an orphanage and support centre in the town of Eldoret in western Kenya.

 

Location

Eldoret.

 

Work

Volunteers are required to assist with a variety of activities:

• Renovation work in our full board orphanage facility
• Teach in local community schools
• Take part in sporting activities with our orphans
• Work in 'street children' rehabilitation centers
• Participate in some free medical camps.
• Work in community health facilities.
• Visit rural villages to interact with villagers and to learn some of their cultural pratices

Getting there

You will need to make your own arrangements to fly to Nairobi where you will be picked up at the airport and taken by road to Eldoret.

 

Accommodation

Accommodation will be available in single or double rooms.

 

Living costs

It is estimated that you would need around US$60 per month to pay for food, accommodation and transport.

 

Volunteers

Small groups of 2 - 4 volunteers would be ideal.

 

Duration

You can arrange the length of your stay to suit yourself, e.g. you may wish to stay from 1- 3 months. It's up to you.

 

Weather

The best time to go would be between September and February. Other times of the year can be wet and not conducive to carrying out the activities described above.

 

Things to do

Apart from your voluntary work you can take the opportunity to get out and visit Kenya's game reserves and wildlife.
